INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAMS BASED ON FLYWHEEL VS.BODY WEIGHT RESISTANCE IN RECREATIONAL ATHLETES
This study compares the effects and benefits of flywheel equipment vs. traditional gravity training for hamstring and ACL injury prevention. Furthermore, This study was based on 18 recreational athletes during a 6 weeks protocol. Outcomes include a 10-second tuck jump assessment (TJA), landing knee valgus score, hamstring and quadriceps concentric and eccentric isokinetic 60 s peak torque, optimal peak torque localization, conventional and functional hamstring-to-quadriceps ratio, among others. Inc conclusion, a 6 week protocol using flywheel technology seems to elicit positive adaptations for hamstrings and ACL injuries and to enhance RSSA performance compared to exercising with no external resistance other than athletes’ body weight. This is a great article to understand the factors that apply to injury prevention when using flywheel equipment.
